Let us be part of your family

We know that choosing the right educational center for your child is a very personal and important decision. Poiana Learning Center is here to support you and your children and to help them develop into confident and caring individuals. We create a happy and nurturing environment that feels just like an extension of your own home.

We are a small, local, family-run Learning Center where children are truly at the heart of everything we do.

Our approach to education is to help children develop the skills and attitudes, concepts and knowledge that they will need for now and the rest of their lives.

The environment has a major impact on stimulation of the senses. Research has shown that the outdoor environment has been proven to have a significant positive effect on children’s learning, therefore a big part of the children’s learning and play will take place in the outdoor environment.

Opportunities in the outdoor setting allows children to develop a range of life skills: independence, self awareness, altruism and social and communication skills all of which assist individuals to grow in confidence and self-esteem.

Here at Poiana, children have all their senses stimulated and the activities cater for the auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners. The children have access to both indoor and out, throughout the day as the educational center is a place for children to explore, thrive and enjoy.

If you would like to know more, come and meet us and let us show you what we have to offer your family.

Our Aims

At Poiana Learning Center we aim to provide a warm, caring and yet challenging environment where the child’s individuality is nourished, where the childhood is cherished and where the child feels like home.

The Curriculum is based on the Development Matters document and the Early Years Foundation Stage from the English National Curriculum. The Early Years Foundation Stage is a structure of learning, development and care for children from birth to 5 years set out in England. It is designed to ensure that children learn through play and that they are encouraged and supported to build on their individual needs and interests.

The learning characteristics of the EYFS are:

-playing and exploring

-active learning

-creating and thinking critically

We aim to:

  • build on what the child already knows
  • provide opportunities for supporting and extending learning and developing knowledge throw new experiences
  • respect the childhood
  • look at the whole child; understanding that their social, emotional, physical, moral and intellectual development are interrelated
  • foster child initiated learning to promote independence
  • nurture the potential in all children
  • use nature as a vehicle for learning
  • differentiate for quality of access to learning
